Elite Model Look (EML) was launched in 1983 with the aim of discovering fresh new faces from across the globe. This event has managed to differentiate itself from events that are simple searches for models to become an internationally renowned launch platform for super models.

It is a fun event married to a serious goal that is to have a girl's unique beauty evaluated in person by industry leaders who know the demands of today's fashion industry. It is a unique opportunity for a girl to be discovered and realize her dreams.

National EML events are held in over 50 countries. The winner of each national final proceeds to the international final event which is held over ten days at a new location each year - the last few being in Tangiers, Shanghai , Singapore , Marrakech and Lhasa ( Tibet ).

The list of modeling stars whose careers began with EML reads like a 'who's who' of the industry - from current cover girls like Alessandra Ambrosio, Gisele Bundchen, Irina Bondarenko, Natalis Semanova and Yfke Sturm to the original supermodels of the 80's - Cindy Crawford, Karen Mulder, Stephanie Seymour and, Nadja Auermann, to name a few.

EML preliminary contests are held in five cities in India , usually in October of each year, and the qualifiers of these contests join the national contest. Indian contestants have been participating in EML since 2002.
